Dr. Falah Abu-Jarad is a Professor in Radiation Protection with 86 international scientific publications, holding 4 Certificates of Competences to practice and advise in all aspects of Radiation Protection from Society of Radiological Protection /UK, 1992, 1997, 2002 and 2007. Furthermore, Dr. Falah is a licensed Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) from King Abdulaziz City for Science & Technology (KACST) in (a) Industrial Radiography (b) Teaching Radiation Protection Courses and Research . He has 30 years of rich experience in radiation protection services and research.

At King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) from 1981-2002, he was a delegated leader of the Radiation Protection Group in 1984. He was the principle coordinator for the Short Course titled “Principles of Radiation Protection (PRP)”, a requirement for candidates planning to attend RSO Exam at KACST. He received 2 distinction awards from the University for his (i) coordination and teaching the PRP course (ii) Applied research.

Following on from his work at KFUPM, Dr. Abu-Jarad joined Saudi Aramco.  From 2002-2007, he held the position of the leader of Man-made Ionizing Radiation Sources (MIRS) group in the Radiation Protection Unit (RPU) of Environmental Protection Department (EPD). Major of the group activities cover all radiation protection issues related to man-made ionizing radiation sources used by Saudi Aramco. He initiated, administered and coordinated the qualification exam for industrial radiography workers who require obtaining a Radiation Protection Permit (RPP) for their work in the Saudi Aramco. Dr Abu Jarad also led the role in Radiation Safety compliance monitoring of contractors and facilities using radiation sources.
